Richard Malis, M.D. owns and operates the Med-Psych Network. He
has been involved in computer related ventures since 1987. He
graduated from Emory University with a major in chemistry and a minor
in philosophy. While there, he was involved in research on
reward centers in the brain.
After graduating from Emory, he attended the University of Chicago -
Pritzker School of Medicine. While a student there, he participated
in research on the neurobiology of impulsivity. Upon graduating
from the University of Chicago, he entered a combined residency program
in Internal Medicine and Psychiatry at the University of Iowa.
After residency, he began working for the Illinois Department of Human
Services. He worked as an attending psychiatrist at Elgin Mental Health Center, working with individuals with severe mental illnesses. He later worked for several years at Chicago Read Mental Health Center, initially as an attending psychiatrist supervising Northwestern University psychiatry residents and later as the Medical Director. He currently works at Elgin Mental Health Center, treating individuals with severe mental illnesses in a forensic setting.
In addition to operating the Med-Psych Network, he also designs and operates several other websites, including
Med-Psych.com and the Medical Education Discussion Forums.
